A Management and Occupancy Review can uncover compliance problems that have existed for months or even years, often because required procedures were not followed consistently, documentation was incomplete, or property practices did not match HUD requirements. Many MOR findings are preventable when staff understand what reviewers are looking for and know how to identify weaknesses before the review begins. This webinar focuses on common findings involving tenant files, EIV, waiting lists, leases, Tenant Selection Plans, Fair Housing marketing, Lead-Based Paint (LBP) requirements, verification and calculations, and implementation of HUD regulatory changes. The session goes beyond identifying problems by examining practical steps owners and agents can take to correct deficiencies and prevent them from recurring.
This webinar takes participants inside some of the most common problem areas identified during management and occupancy reviews of HUD Multifamily properties. Rather than approaching the MOR as something to prepare for only when a review is scheduled, the session focuses on building everyday compliance practices that make a property continuously MOR ready.
Participants will examine common deficiencies involving Lead-Based Paint (LBP) documentation, Affirmative Fair Housing Marketing Plans (AFHMP), implementation of HUD regulatory changes, Tenant Selection Plans (TSP) leases and addenda, waiting list management, verification and calculation practices, and EIV. Special attention is given to the documentation reviewers expect to find and the disconnect that can occur between written policies and actual site practices.
The webinar also examines why findings occur in the first place and provides practical strategies for correcting identified deficiencies, strengthening staff procedures, improving documentation, and reducing the likelihood of repeat findings.
Why you should attend:
Finding out during an MOR that your policies are outdated, your EIV reports were not properly reviewed, your waiting list cannot produce an auditable history, or your tenant files do not support the actions taken is too late. Even experienced staff can unknowingly create compliance exposure when HUD requirements change or when written policies and actual site practices begin to drift apart. This webinar will help you recognize the warning signs reviewers look for, identify vulnerabilities before they become findings, and strengthen the documentation and procedures needed to demonstrate compliance.
